VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES WITH ULVERSTON OTTERS
Ulverston Otters is run entirely by volunteers. So there are lots of opportunities to volunteer and help out with the running of your club.
Some roles require quite a lot of training or prior experience, such as Swimming Teacher or Swimming Coach, whereas others just require a bit of your time and perhaps some skills from another part of your life, for instance fundraising, seeking sponsorship or operating the computer system at galas.
If any parents/carers would be able to help out at all, even if only for a few hours a month, it would be massively appreciated by the committee. Most of us knew nothing about swimming before our kids joined the club, so don’t be put off by feeling you won’t be able to contribute – you will, and it’s a great way to learn a bit more about the sport that your child loves.
Volunteers are currently needed for:
- Seeking sponsorship from local businesses for events
- Grant applications
- Timekeeping and Judging (training is provided)
- Computer operation for club galas (to understudy Gary Jones)
- Leading or assisting with land training once a week
But if you have another skill which might be of use to the club, please shout out to any committee officer or email me (see below).
Thanks very much to all existing volunteers of course – the swimmers would not be here without you.
