Youth International Swim League
The Youth International Swim League came to life after a tweet was sent out by the head coach of Cockermouth in mid August. From this tweet several teams from around the world responded. Over the last few weeks the YISL has been born.
Our swimmers aged 9 on the 31st December and over will be racing in our pool on the weekend of the 18th September. We will be racing against two teams from California, one from Florida and a team who swims in New Orleans Louisiana. From the Uk there is us, Cockermouth, Repton School and a team from Derbyshire.
We will race over three consecutive weekends starting on the 18th September. After the first weekend the times will be entered and each swim will get a ranking against all other entries. The swimmers can then see who they need to go faster than or stay in front of for the next weekend.
The main reason for the YISL is to allow swimmers to contact each other via the social media platform that will run alongside it. Its about making friends across the world who have swimming as there chosen sport. We follow YSIL on our instagram site Ulverston otters 2020. Any otter swimmer or parent can join.
The entry form is now live and your swimmer can enter online. HERE – This is the first event of its kind in the world and we are in it! It maybe, due to restrictions in pool times and numbers allowed in the pool the events may be altered or swims restricted. There will be teething problems but we will overcome them. It is hoped to roll out the YSIL world wide when our first meet concludes. We can then challenge clubs around the world from our own pool. YISL is coming to our pool soon.
Should be fun
