2018 Diddy Final

2018 Diddy Final
Buoyed after finishing fourth in the league the Otters headed to this year’s Diddy final last Sunday where Workington’s eight lane facility provided the first opportunity for all the qualifying teams to race at the same time in the same venue. An exciting afternoon of racing was therefore guaranteed!
Yet again the Otters rose to the occasion producing some fantastic performances and when, a third of the way through the event, the points were tallied, all was still to play for. As the afternoon wore on the strength in depth of the bigger clubs became apparent but a fourth place was still achievable if we could take the afternoon’s final event the cannon.
Unless you have witnessed it, no words can convey the frenzied excitement of the cannon and this edition was no exception.
As in Carlisle the margin of victory was incredibly slim, but it was enough, and the double points earned enabled us to leap frog Cockermouth and take fourth behind Carnforth with Carlisle finishing second behind Kendal, who in securing the top spot in the final achieved the double.
So a huge well done to all our swimmers and a big thank you to the coaches, officials and of course you parents for giving up your Sunday.

Go Otters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
